Center Lock Nuts have indentations in the center of their sides that create a locking action when the slightly distorted threads engage with the mating part. These inexpensive, all metal, prevailing torque type lock nuts reduce assembly costs because they are reversible—either the top or the bottom of a Center Lock Nut can be used as the bearing surface.
